Lancaster JetHawks News Release
LANCASTER, Calif. - For the fifth straight game and the 18th time this season, the JetHawks scored double-digit runs en route to a 14-6 win over the Visalia Rawhide on Wednesday night at The Hangar.
J.D. Davis hit a pair of two-run homers for the JetHawks (37-29) in the contest. A.J. Reed also hit his league-leading 17th home run of the season, and Brian Holberton hit his first of the year in the rubber-game victory over Visalia (41-25). The win, along with a Rancho Cucamonga loss, moved Lancaster within one game of first place with four games remaining in the first half.
Davis went 2-for-4 and scored three runs while driving in four. Chase McDonald collected three hits and drove in two runs, and Mott Hyde scored two additional runs and added two RBI.
Edison Frias (8-2) recorded his league-leading eighth win for Lancaster despite allowing four home runs over 7.1 innings of work. The righty allowed six runs on eight hits and became the first JetHawks starter to pitch into the eighth inning.
Lancaster tallied three runs against Blake Perry (5-3) in the first. Brett Phillips drew a leadoff walk, and Davis later homered to right field. Reed followed with a solo home run, marking the third set of back-to-back homers for Lancaster this season.
The Rawhide answered with three runs in the top of the second. Stryker Trahan led off the inning with a home run, and a hit-by-pitch, a single and a walk loaded the bases with none out. Two RBI-groundouts then tied the score.
In the sixth inning, Davis hit his second two-run home run of the game off Visalia reliever Mason McCullough. The game marked Davis' first multi-homer game of the season.
The JetHawks rallied for five runs against Joey Krehbiel in the eighth. James Ramsay and McDonald both hit RBI-singles, and Holberton's first home run of the season brought home three runs to cap the scoring.
Frederick Tiburcio held the Rawhide scoreless over 1.2 innings of relief and received his fourth save of the season.
The homestand continues on Thursday as the JetHawks open a four-game series against the Lake Elsinore Storm. Kevin Comer (0-1, 2.35) will take the mound for the JetHawks against Lake Elsinore's Kyle Lloyd (3-4, 5.31). First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
