Giants Begin Four-Game Series Against Inland Empire The San Jose Giants return home this evening to begin a four-game series against the Inland Empire 66ers that will close out the first half. Jose Reyes (0-1, 11.74) is slated to make the start on the mound for San Jose tonight. Reyes is making his third start with the Giants after receiving a promotion from Class-A Augusta on June 5. Reyes went 4-1 with a 1.36 ERA in eight starts for the GreenJackets before coming up to San Jose. The 24-year old was leading the South Atlantic League in ERA at the time of his promotion.

Road Trip Review The Giants posted a 3-4 record on their seven-game road trip that concluded last night. San Jose began the trip with a four-game series split at High Desert. The Giants twice achieved a season-high in runs scored during their two victories in the series (12-10 win on June 11, 14-7 win on June 13). San Jose then dropped two out of three games in Modesto. The Giants scored a total of just seven runs during the three-game set versus the Nuts. San Jose finishes the first half with a 12-23 road record (worst in the league). The Giants have yet to win a road series this season.

Power Surge The Giants hit 11 home runs during their seven-game road trip (after just two homers in their previous 10 games). San Jose's 40 home runs this season rank eighth in the California League. Tyler Horan, Ben Turner and Ty Ross each homered twice during the road trip.

Six Giants Named To All-Star Team Six San Jose Giants were named to the California League All-Star team last week. Pitchers Tyler Beede, Chase Johnson, Keury Mella and Dan Slania, second baseman Austin Slater and outfielder Hunter Cole will represent the Giants in the June 23 California-Carolina League All-Star Game in Rancho Cucamonga (Beede will not participate due to his promotion to Double-A Richmond). The six selections are the most of any team in the California League. Mella (3rd, 2.95) and Johnson (5th, 3.23) both rank among the top five in the league in ERA while Slania is tied for first with 12 saves. Cole (.327, 5 HR, 33 RBI) is fourth in the league in batting average. Slater (.298, 3 HR, 34 RBI) leads the Giants in hits (71), doubles (14 - tied) and RBI's. Beede was 2-2 with a 2.24 ERA in nine starts before his promotion.

At Muni The Giants are 12-5 in their last 17 games at Municipal Stadium (after starting the season 4-10 at home). San Jose's team ERA at home is 2.98 compared to 4.85 on the road. Beginning tonight, the Giants will play 22 out of their next 29 games at home (through July 21).

Close Loss The Giants had won their last six one-run games prior to Tuesday's 4-3, 10-inning defeat to Modesto. San Jose is 9-11 overall this season in one-run games.

Versus The Sixers San Jose is 5-2 against Inland Empire this season. The Giants swept a three-game set from the 66ers at Municipal Stadium from April 20-22. San Jose outscored Inland Empire by a 16-1 margin during the series. The teams then split a four-game series in San Bernardino from May 30-June 2. The Giants are 16-14 (.533) against the South Division this season and just 12-24 (.333) versus the North.

Trouble In The Field With three more miscues last night, the Giants have now committed 86 errors this season - tops in the California League (Bakersfield and Inland Empire next-closest with 80). San Jose's 60 unearned runs this season are second-most in the league.

Odds And Ends The Giants are 16-12 (.571) since falling to a season-high 14 games under .500 (12-26) on May 18 ... San Jose is 0-for-11 with runners in scoring position over their last two games (both losses) ... The Giants' .266 overall team batting average is tops among all North Division clubs (third in the league) ... San Jose (28-38) is guaranteed to finish the first half with a sub-.500 record for the second straight season (34-36 last year) ... Prior to last season, San Jose had 10 straight winning first halves (2004-2013).

Opponent Notes: Inland Empire 66ers The Inland Empire 66ers, an affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, are in fourth place in the South Division with a 32-33 record. Inland Empire is sixth in the league in batting average (.259), last in home runs (32) and seventh in ERA (4.33). The 66ers lost two out of three at Bakersfield in their most recent series. Inland Empire is 13-17 on the road.
