Horsemen look to carry momentum into Ft. Wayne

LEXINGTON, Ky.-The Lexington Horsemen look to carry the momentum of their recent comeback win over Sioux Falls into Ft. Wayne, Ind., Saturday as they face the first-place Freedom of the UIF Midwest Division. Kickoff is set for 8:30 p.m. ET and the game will be carried live on Supertalk 96.1 FM with Gary Ball.

The Horsemen (7-4), who lead the UIF South Division, overcame an 11-point first-half deficit last week to top the Storm 61-47 in Rupp Arena. Quarterback Dusty Bonner completed 11-of-22 passes for 112 yards with five touchdowns. He also rushed for 47 yards on two attempts (23.5 avg.) with a touchdown. Wide receiver Chad Spencer caught six passes for 46 yards, including four touchdowns. Running backs Randy Bell (62) and Derek Homer (64) each rushed for 60 or more yards as the Horsemen controlled the ground game 164-55.

Lexington leads the United Indoor Football league in pass offense for the third consecutive week. The Horsemen are averaging 154.6 yards per game in the air on the year. Bonner has thrown for 1,701 yards this season, having completed 59.3 percent of his passes (188-of-317) with 45 touchdown strikes.

Conversely, the Freedom (10-1) are ranked first in the league in pass defense. Ft. Wayne is holding its opponents to a league-low 111.5 yards per game with 18 touchdowns. The Freedom also are ranked second in the league in scoring (kicking). They have scored 93 kick points this season.

Following Saturday's contest, the Horsemen return home for a re-match with the Tennessee Valley Raptors June 25. The game is being billed as "Kids Night." The first 500 children 12 and under receive a coupon for a free buffet at Gatti-Town. Kids will have the opportunity to meet Geoffrey the Giraffe from Toys R US and two children will each win a new bicycle.
