Tulsa 66ers News Release
OKLAHOMA CITY, November 17 - The New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets announced today that they have assigned rookie forward Sean Banks to the Tulsa 66ers of the NBA Development League. Banks will continue to be included on the Hornets' roster and will remain on the team's Inactive List.
Banks is the sixth NBA player to be assigned to a D-League affiliate and the second to the 66ers. The Milwaukee Bucks assigned Ersan Ilyasova to Tulsa earlier this week. The Minnesota Timberwolves designated center Dwayne Jones and guard Bracey Wright to the Florida Flame, while the Phoenix Suns have assigned Dijon Thompson to the Albuquerque Thunderbirds and the Washington Wizards have designated Peter John Ramos to the Roanoke Dazzle.
"Sean is a very talented player and we want to see him continue to develop his skills as part of our organization," said Hornets General Manager Jeff Bower. "Assigning him to the D-League will allow him to see much more time on the court and allow him to grow as a professional while we monitor that development."
Banks had spent the first seven regular season games on the Hornets' Inactive List. He averaged 4.3 points and 1.0 rebounds in three preseason games after signing with the team as an undrafted free agent on Oct. 1.
The Tulsa 66ers, coached by Joey Meyer, are affiliated with Chicago, Indiana and Milwaukee as well as the Hornets. The team will tip off its 48-game schedule tomorrow night vs. Albuquerque at Expo Square Pavilion.
