Hoops Prepare for Home Opener

Grand Rapids, MI - The Continental Basketball Association's Grand Rapids HOOPS are making final preparations for their home opener tomorrow night versus the Idaho Stampede. Tip off is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. EST.

The HOOPS face the Idaho Stampede for the third consecutive game to begin the season, after going 1-1 at Idaho over the weekend. Larry Ayuso leads the team in scoring, with 21.5 points per game, while Eric Murdock has compiled an average of 13 points and 11 assists a game.

As part of the opening night celebration at the DeltaPlex, the HOOPS will distribute free T-shirts to the first 2,500 fans to arrive and Bill Camp's Flying Dogs return for another festive halftime presentation. Also, the City of Walker will have a real-life police car and fire truck on display for the fans' enjoyment.

CBA Commissioner Gary Hunter and Deputy Commissioner Wade Morehead will be in attendance for the home contest as they continue their cross-country trek to commemorate the first week of the 2002-03 season. Both will be available for interviews and comments throughout Wednesday afternoon.
