
Hoops Move Game Closer to CBA Finals

The Grand Rapids Hoops moved one step closer to the CBA Finals as they downed the Rockford Lightning 116-108 Tuesday night at the DeltaPlex Arena. The victory leaves the HOOPS one victory shy of winning the best-of-five series with the Lightning to capture the American Conference crown.
The two teams will square off for Game Four Wednesday night at the DeltaPlex. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. EST.
In the series' most pivotal game thus far, Grand Rapids was able to overcome a 68-63 halftime deficit by holding the high-octane Lightning to just 40 points in the second half to secure the win.
Grand Rapids was led by eight players scoring in double figures, including Olden Polynice's game-high 22 points and 18 rebounds. CBA Rookie of the Year Immanuel McElroy added 18 points and seven rebounds, while Kareem Reid chipped in 16 points and eight assists.
The Hoops were also able to defeat Rockford despite their two leading scorers, Jerald Honeycutt and Alex Scales, contributing just 23 points on 5-26 field goal shooting.
Rockford was led in defeat by Danny Johnson and Ronnie Fields, who scored 19 and 18 points, respectively.
The winner of the American Conference Finals will move on to face the Yakima Sun Kings, who defeated the CBA defending champion Dakota Wizards 3 games to 1, on Monday, March 24 in the single-game CBA championship.
