Honkers Finalize Roster, Add Volunteer Williams

(Rochester, MN)-The Rochester Honkers have finalized their 2012 roster by adding University of Tennessee sophomore right handed pitcher Nick Williams. The Knoxville, Tennessee native was the team's closer during his freshman campaign, but has earned a spot in the Volunteer rotation this month.

So far this season, the 6'2", 230-pound righty has pitched in 17 games, with seven of them coming as starts. Williams is 2-4 with a 3.13 ERA and has 36 strikeouts in 46.0 innings and three saves. He is tied for fourth on the team with 17 total appearances.

In his last start, UT lost in the fourteenth inning 3-2 to Mississippi State, but Williams was solid over six innings, giving up two runs on five hits and striking out three in his seventh start of the season.

As a freshman in 2011, Williams appeared in 23 games, all out of the bullpen, and finished with a record of 2-1 with four saves.

The Tennessee Volunteers (22-19) will begin a weekend series at Auburn on Friday, April 27th.

Opening day for the 2012 Rochester Honkers is on May 30 when the Honkers travel to Waterloo, IA to take on the Waterloo Bucks. The home opener is Thursday, May 31st against the same Waterloo Bucks.
