Rochester Honkers News Release

Rochester, MN - The Honkers would make it an interesting one tonight, losing 10-5 in ten innings to the Alexandria Beetles. The Honkers fall to 13-15, and are now 8.5 games behind the Beetles who are in first place in the North Division.

The Honkers would use a great comeback in the ninth inning to revive all hopes of a win. After allowing one against them in the ninth, the Honkers used a two-RBI single by Seth McMullen (So, Winona State) to tie the game with one out to go. The Honkers would lose the game in the tenth after a three run homerun by Beetles hitting leader Mike Theofanopolous.

Elliott Engle (Fr, Doane College) would get the start pitching 4.2 innings and taking credit for the first three runs the Beetles would score. Engle would get the no-decision, keeping his season record 0-0 in the short time he has been in Rochester.

The Honkers would send out a platoon of relief pitchers with a depleted bullpen lately. They would look to Zach Ransom (Fr, North Dakota) in the tenth after the Honkers great ninth inning comeback. Ransom would come on with one batter on after the Honkers gave the leadoff batter to McMullen to give more time for Ransom to warm up. McMullen would be credited with the loss after walking the batter that scored the go-ahead run, after Ransom gave up a three-run homerun.

The Honkers and Beetles will have their final match up of the season tomorrow with a 7:05 first pitch at Mayo Field. The Honkers will have D.J. Snelten (Fr, Minnesota) on the mound making his sixth start and eighth appearance overall for the Honkers.
