Richmond Roosters News Release
Robert S. Powell, Regional President of US Bank presented a check in the amount of $1,300 to the Boys and Girls Club of Wayne County. Bruce Daggy, Executive Director of the Boys and Girls Club of Wayne County accepted the check at McBride Stadium. Representing the Roosters was Deanna Beaman, Vice President and General Manager. The money is the result of a season long commitment by US Bank to donate $50.00 for each homerun hit by a Richmond Roosters player at McBride Stadium during the 2003 season.
Powell noted, "We are always looking for ways to support the local community. By bringing the Boys and Girls Club of Wayne County, the Roosters and US Bank together this creates a win-win situation for everyone." This is the eighth year that US Bank has contributed to the Club though the homerun derby. This makes a total contribution of $13,950 over the past eight years.
Bruce Daggy added, "The partnership between US Bank and the Roosters has become a very visible way of supporting the Boys and Girls Club of Wayne County. In this time of growth for the club, the support is important, and benefits all the boys and girls served by the club. We greatly appreciate the support and commitment of US Bank and the Roosters."
Deanna Beaman added, "It is so exciting to be able to provide such a unique opportunity for US Bank, the Boys and Girls Club of Wayne County and the Roosters to join together to support the youth of our community.
This is just another way that the Roosters are able to give back to the community, with the invaluable help of Robert Powell and our partners at US Bank. We are extremely proud of Bruce Daggy and the Boys and Girls Club of Wayne County for what they have provided for our community."
During the season, twenty six homeruns resulted in the $1,300 donation. US Bank has been a supporter of the Roosters since their inaugural season in 1995 and has long been an avid supporter of local sports on all levels in the Richmond area.
