IFL Sioux Falls Storm

Home Opener for the Dawn of a New Dynasty

March 11, 2011 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Sioux Falls Storm News Release

The Sioux Falls Storm are set to kick off their home schedule this Monday night at 7:05pm as they welcome the Wenatchee Venom in a matchup of undefeated teams. First Premier is the proud sponsor of the home opener. The Storm and the Venom have never faced each other, as this is the Venom's first year in the IFL.

The 1-0 Storm opened up the season with a record-breaking performance over the Kent Predators two weeks ago, winning 105-71. The Storm were led by quarterback Chris Dixon, who was responsible for 10 total touchdowns (8 passing and two rushing). On the ground, wide receiver James Terry led the way with 54 rushing yards and one touchdown, as well as one receiving touchdown and three receptions for 27 yards. Former USF standouts Dusty Hovorka and Lorenzo Brown each played a key role in the passing game, as Hovorka caught six receptions for 82 yards and four touchdowns, and Brown had three receptions for 60 yards and two touchdowns.

The Storm will look for their defensive talent to help them against the Venom, as former Billings Outlaws players, defensive lineman Michael Bazemore and linebacker Kelly Rouse are leading the team with 2.5 sacks and seven tackles, respectively. Also on defense, defensive back Kenneth Akridge intercepted a pass last week and returned it for a touchdown.

"We've been working eight months for our home opener," Storm owner Todd Tryon said. "We are excited to show the best fans in the IFL what's in store for their future."

Tickets are still available at the arena. Fans wanting to purchase single game tickets can call the Arena Box Office at (605) 367-7288 or at www.siouxfallsstorm.com.
