Lehigh Valley Steelhawks News Release
Bethlehem, PA: In an announcement made today by the Professional Indoor Football League, Lehigh Valley Steelhawks Dwayne Hollis was named to the ALL-PIFL First Team for both Defensive Back and Kick Returner.
Despite advancing to this weekend PIFL Championship game this season, Hollis was the lone Steelhawks to earn ALL-PIFL Honors for the 2014 season. Their opponent in the Championship, the Nashville Venom were awarded with nine players making the list.
Hollis, a leading candidate for MVP and Rookie of the Year Honors, took the league by storm from game one this season. In his first ever Professional contest, Hollis came away with his first two interceptions on the season. He would not look back from there. Hollis finished the regular season with the second most tackles in the league (66 total), tied for first in interceptions (10), second with two interceptions returned for touchdowns, second in the league in passes defended (21), along with forcing a fumble and recovering two.
On Special Teams, Hollis set a PIFL record for kick return touchdown in a season with four. No other player in the league had more than one return touchdown in 2014. He took three missed field goals for touchdowns, and one kick return. In total, he accumulated 294 kick return yards and 251 missed field goals return yards.
Hollis and the rest of his Steelhawks teammates will attempt to bring home their first PIFL Championship this weekend inside the Nashville Municipal Auditorium on Saturday, July 12th at 8pm EST. The Steelhawks will be posting updates on Facebook and Twitter for all fans back in the Valley. Live streaming of the game will be announced later this week.
