Last night, Lake Erie took the 1-0 series lead by defeating the IceHogs 5-2. Tyler Motte and Dennis Rasmussen each tallied for the IceHogs in a late comeback effort, but Rockford could not climb out of a four-goal hole and became the first team to lose a home game in the season series. The IceHogs went 4-0-0-0 at the BMO Harris Bank Center against the Monsters in the regular season but posted a 0-3-1-0 record in their visits to Quicken Loans Arena.
Tanner Kero will try to extend his personal point streak to six games after assisting on Motte's goal last night. The rookie center has a goal and six assists over his last five games, and he, Motte, and Vince Hinostroza have chipped in six goals and 14 assists in the team's previous six contests.
Former Hog Alex Broadhurst contributed to the Monsters winning effort in Game 1, scoring a power-play goal and adding two assists en route to first star honors.
While Joonas Korpisalo was the benefactor of a series of fortunate bounces last night in his victory, he still stopped 28-of-30 IceHogs shots directed his way and did not allow a goal until 14:54 of the third period.
Next Game: Saturday, April 23 vs. Lake Erie Monsters. The IceHogs head to Lake Erie to play their first road game of the Central Division Semifinals against the Monsters. Rockford went 0-3-1-0 in Cleveland during the regular season.
