Hogs heartbroken in Kalamazoo

Rockford IceHogs News Release
Kalamazoo, Mich.- For only the second time this season, the Rockford IceHogs lost back-to-back games. The Hogs dropped a 2-1 contest to the Kalamazoo Wings on Valentine's Day, playing on Kalamazoo's traditional pink ice at Wings Stadium.
The Wings capitalized on two Hogs breakdowns to nab the two points. In the opening period, winger Kevin Kotyluk tipped in a loose puck at 17:45 to make the score 1-0. Center Yannick Carpentier slid a puck under goalie Michel Robinson and Kotyluk buried it into a wide-open net.
After Robinson and Wings goalie Chad Alban traded great save after great save in the second period, Kalamazoo would net the eventual game-winning tally in the third period. After Rockford struggled to clear the puck out of their zone, defenseman Greg Labenski fired home his first marker of the year at 9:02. The Hogs would later ruin Alban's shutout bid with less then a second to play. Winger J.F. Dufour shot home his 17 goal of the season at 1959.
Robinson kept Rockford in the game with 36 saves, but Alban turned away 34 of Rockford's 35 shots to pick up the win.
Next Home Game: Friday, February 25 vs. Missouri River Otters. Game time is 7:05 p.m. It's Christian Night with the IceHogs. Come and see motivational speaker Mike Donahue and his team before the game. For tickets call 968-5222.
