Indianapolis Ice News Release

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - In a show of support for the Indianapolis Colts and their current playoff run to the AFC Championship Game, Indianapolis Ice players will don horseshoe logos on their helmets beginning with Friday night's game at the Pepsi Coliseum.

To help kick off the weekend, Colts Pro-Bowl kicker Mike Vanderjagt will be on hand at Friday night's game to drop the ceremonial first puck and greet fans. An avid hockey fan from Oakville, Ontario (Canada), Vanderjagt was elected to his first Pro-Bowl this season. He is currently riding a consecutive field goal streak of 45 straight dating back to the 2002 regular season.

"The Colts current romp through the playoffs has been nothing short of amazing," said Ice General Manager Larry Linde. "The way they have captivated this city is incredible...we just wanted to show our support as they march towards the Super Bowl." He added, "One thing's for sure....Mike Vanderjagt loves hockey and we love our Colts!"

Indy, who has won five straight at home, hosts the Wichita Thunder Friday at 7:00 p.m. from the Pepsi Coliseum and Saturday at 7:00 p.m. from Conseco Fieldhouse. The Ice has enjoyed the Thunder's company the past few seasons as the team is 17-0-1 in the last 18 meetings against Wichita.

Saturday night's game will also be the first ever NASCAR Night with the Ice as Sterling Marlin will be making a special appearance at the game to meet fans and sign autographs. In addition, Marlin's Coors Light Dodge show car will be on hand and fans will have an opportunity to participate in a special pit-stop competition complete with air guns, tires and rear quarter panel.

Tickets for this weekends' games can be purchased at all Ticketmaster locations including select Marsh Supermarkets, Karma Records, select L.S. Ayres, and the Indiana State Fairgrounds and Conseco Fieldhouse box offices, or by calling 239-5151 or online at ticketmaster.com.
