Hitchcock leads Dillas over Coyotes 10-3 in 11 innings

EDINBURG, TX - It took over four hours, 20 hits, 11 innings and a 4-5 performance from Brendon Hitchcock but the Amarillo Dillas ended their season with a 10-3 win over the Edinburg Coyotes on Sunday night at the Edinburg Baseball Stadium in front of 1,656 fans.

Dillas reliever Drew Jackson (5-5) got the win in two and-a-third innings of relief and didn't allow a run. Coyotes reliever Angel Rocha (2-5) got the loss as he gave up seven runs in the 11th inning for the loss. Hitchcock went 4-5 with a double, three runs and two RBI in the effort.

Edinburg took a first inning lead as Alexis Hernandez hit a bases loaded single to bring home Amado German and Cameron McGuire for a two-run lead. Amarillo would respond in the second as Josh Ashton tripled and scored on a wild pitch. Hitchcock singled later in the inning and scored on a Justin Wenger RBI sacrifice fly to tie the game 2-2.

The Coyotes would retake the lead in the second as Angelo Fermin singled, stole second and scored on a German single. The Dillas would tie the game in the fourth as Hitchcock reached on an error, went to second on a walk, third on a groundout and scored on a Wenger groundout to tie the game 3-3.

Coyotes starter Bryan Heaston and Dillas starter Josh Myers didn't allow a run for the remainder of their game while Rocha and Jackson cleaned up the rest as this game would go to extra innings.

In the tenth, Edinburg had a runner on second with two outs when Fermin hit a high fly to center field. Jonathan Reynoso turned his back to the ball and made the catch over his shoulder to end the inning.

In the 11th, Danny Bravo doubled to left field with one out, while Gary Schneidmiller singled to right field to score Bravo for the first Dillas lead. Two batters later with the bases loaded, Hitchcock doubled to right field to score two more runs. They would add on four more to take a 10-3 lead.

Jackson finished off the side in the 11th to give the Dillas a seven-run win in the final game of the season.
