Tampa Bay Storm News Release
TAMPA BAY - The Tampa Bay Storm is proud to announce that quarterback Randy Hippeard has been named the Week 13 AFL MVP for his performance versus the Philadelphia Soul. This is an honor voted on by the Arena Football League fans.
"I am proud to receive this honor," said Hippeard. "I want to thank the team and the fans for all of their support."
Hippeard (6-3, 205 lbs., UVA-Wise) led the Storm to a 56-49 comeback win versus the Soul. The signal caller was knocked out of the game twice, only to find his way back on the field to help guide his team to victory. With under a minute left in regulation, Hippeard connected with wide receiver T.T. Toliver on a 28-yard pass that would prove to be the game-winning touchdown. Hippeard finished the night completing 14-of-26 passes for 217 yards and seven touchdowns. The win extended the team's current win streak to three games and put it right back in the playoff hunt.
Hippeard has completed 222-of-380 passes for 2,907 yards and 66 touchdowns. In three games since returning from injury, Hippeard has completed 53-of-90 passes for 684 yards and 18 touchdowns. He currently leads the league in total offense with 2,945 yards.
Hippeard took home 65 percent of the fan vote, beating out fellow candidates Bernard Morris of the Orlando Predators and Nathan Stanley of the San Jose SaberCats.
