HFX Wanderers Continue Partnership with Soccer Nova Scotia for 2020 CPL Season

March 10, 2020 - Canadian Premier League (CPL) - HFX Wanderers FC News Release

Halifax, N.S. - Soccer Nova Scotia and HFX Wanderers continue to work together to support the growth and development of the game throughout Nova Scotia.

In the 2020 Canadian Premier League season, the Nova Scotia Soccer League is committed to avoiding conflicts with HFX Wanderers home matches as best as possible.

One of the goals is to make sure the league's members can go to Wanderers home games and cheer on their local professional team without missing their own matches.

"Our initial league planning does not show any conflicts, and we will work diligently to not have any as planning progresses. While we cannot guarantee total blackouts, we will do our best to support the wishes of our members," said Nova Scotia Soccer League Commissioner George Athanasiou.

The association was a central part of the Wanderers season last year when it blacked out Saturday NSSL club matches, allowing players and their families to help create that special Wanderers Grounds home atmosphere.

"Our partnership with Soccer Nova Scotia is one that I am very proud of," stated Derek Martin, President and Founder of HFX Wanderers FC. "Both of our organizations are committed to growing the sport here in Nova Scotia and we appreciate the efforts made to ensure young players across the province can attend our matches and be inspired by their heroes on the pitch to follow their own dreams."

The Wanderers new squad has already started training camp for the 2020 campaign.

The preseason camp is at the indoor facility of Soccer Nova Scotia's BMO Soccer Centre that the club is also grateful to have access to.

The players are getting ready for that first league match of the season April 13th at York9 FC before our big home opener April 25th vs Atlético Ottawa.
