Winnipeg Goldeyes News Release
Winnipeg Goldeyes right-handed pitcher Nick Hernandez has been named the American Association's Pointstreak Pitcher of the Week for the week ending June 29.
Hernandez started two games last week, going strong for seven innings in both outings and earning two wins.
In Trois-Rivieres last Monday, Hernandez led the Goldeyes to their second shutout victory of the year. He faced 27 total batters, striking out eight, and keeping the Aigles to only four hits.
In the Goldeyes' Saturday night matchup against the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, Hernandez struck out four and only allowed the opposition to hit a .200 average. Hernandez's ERA through the two games was a low 1.93.
Hernandez has a 4-0 record in eight games this season, and the Goldeyes have only lost once when Hernandez has been on the mound.
After a rained-out game against Fargo-Moorhead last night, the Goldeyes and RedHawks will face each other in a doubleheader tonight with both games scheduled for seven innings. The first game begins at 5 p.m.
