Sioux Falls Stampede News Release

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Sioux Falls Stampede heads to Youngstown, Ohio this weekend for the first time since November of 2019. The Stampede will take on the reigning USHL Clark Cup Champions at 6:05 p.m. CST on Friday and Saturday at the Covelli Centre.

Back in 2019, the Stampede and Phantoms split their weekend series. The Herd took the first game, in overtime, 3-2. With Sioux Falls scoring first, the only goal in the first period, the scoring went back and forth until regulation time ended at a 2-2 standstill. Winning the game for the Stampede, Gabe Temple found the overtime, game-winning goal with 1:49 expired from the clock. The following night, Youngstown was able to fight back and take the game, four goals to two.

The Stampede is currently 7-2-1-0 this season with a 6-2-0-0 record in the Western Conference where the team sits in second place. The Herd is coming off a four-game week where the team took home three-of-four wins. Most recently, the Stampede went down to the wire with the Sioux City Musketeers, the game tied at three with almost nothing left on the clock in the third period. Forward John McNelis was able to prevent an overtime period with a quick shot on the Musketeer net that snuck under Samuel Urban's left pad and into the net.

The Phantoms are sitting at 6-3-0-0 this season and hold third place in the Eastern Conference. Youngstown has won its last two games, 3-2 against the Madison Capitols and 3-2 against the Chicago Steel. Most notably this season, the Phantoms opened their home schedule with a 12-0 shutout victory over the USA Hockey National Team Development Program on Sep. 30. Against Western Conference teams, the Phantoms are split at 2-2-0-0.

This weekend's games will not be broadcasted on KELO Radio, but instead on Youngstown's Western Reserve Radio, the Live365 app, and through FloHockey.TV.

Next week, the Stampede will host the Lincoln Stars and Fargo Force for the first time this regular season. Friday's game against Lincoln is presented by Tito's Vodka and will benefit the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society. Saturday's game kicks off MOO-vember with Prairie Farms Dairy. Tickets to both games are available at the Stampede office, KELOLAND box office, and on Ticketmaster outlets. More information on next week's games will be released next Wednesday.
