Toledo Mud Hens News Release
The Toledo Mud Hens will begin an eight-game home stand against Charlotte and Buffalo on Friday that will feature two Scout Sleepover days, two School Celebration days, two post-game fireworks displays, Goofy Glasses night, an appearance from Hall of Fame Pitcher Jim Palmer, a Thunderstix giveaway and more. The Hens are returning home after an eight-day road trip in Ottawa and Buffalo.

Friday, May 9 (vs. Charlotte, 1st pitch @ 7:00 pm) â Tia Rosa Bakery Cinco de Mayo Celebration. A number of on-field events will be held to celebrate Cinco de Mayo (even if it is a few days late) including a Jumpin' Bean and a tortilla eating contest. Coupons for Tia Rosa Bakery will be handed out after the game
Saturday, May 10 (vs. Charlotte 1st pitch @ 7:00 p.m.) -- Scout Sleepover and The Pharm/TV-5/94.5 XKR Post-Game Fireworks. At 6:20 pm there will be an on-field scout parade followed by a US Army Swearing In Ceremony. During the game there will be a number of activities for fans, including information tables for the US Army and the American Heart Association in the concourse behind home plate and a US Army inflatable game in the leftfield pavilion.
Post game fireworks will immediately follow the game. After the fireworks thousands of area scouts will turn the outfield grass into a campground, staying overnight on Toledo's own field of dreams in the first of three Scout Sleepovers.
Sunday, May 11 (vs. Charlotte 1st pitch @ 2:00 pm) â Oldies 93.5 Mother's Day with the Mud Hens. Every Sunday at the ballpark is Autograph Sunday and that means Two Mud Hens players will be available to sign autographs for fans free of charge near Section 119 on the main concourse from 1:15-1:45 p.m. Sunday at the stadium also means Applebee's Kids (and Moms) Run the Bases, giving young Mud Hens fans and their mothers the chance to sprint around the base paths at Fifth Third Field just like their favorite players.
Monday, May 12 (vs. Charlotte 1st pitch @ 6:30 pm) â The Zone 106.5 sponsers Goofy Glasses Night. Fans are encouraged to wear the goofiest glasses they can find. If fans don't have any goofy glasses then they should make sure they show up early at Fifth Third Field because goofy glasses will be handed out free of charge to the first 2,000 fans.
Also, the Goodyear blimp will be soaring the skies above Fifth Third Field during the game.
Tuesday, May 13 (vs. Buffalo 1st pitch @ 10:30 am) â Pepsi/Tower 98 School Celebration Day. The second of three school celebration days includes an Owens-Illinois school folder giveaway and face painting by the Arts Council Lake Erie West. The "Buckle Up" safety program will kick off at 10:05 near section 119.
Visitors to Fifth Third Field can find out if they are at risk for heart disease, the number one cause of death in the US, by taking a quick quiz on their cardiovascular health. Testing Tuesdays are brought to you, free of charge, by ProMedica Health System.
Coupons for Marco's and Chick-Fil-A will be handed out after the game.

Thursday, May 15 (vs. Buffalo 1st pitch @ 6:30 pm) -- Nexium / 1470 AM Pitching in for Community Health Night featuring Hall of Fame Pitcher Jim Palmer. Jim Palmer will be speaking at 6:10, will throw out the first pitch, and will be signing autographs during the game. Thunderstix will be given away to the first 5,000 fans courtesy of Nexium.
Jim Palmer and Thuderstix on the same night! Does it get any better than that? I think not.
Friday, May 16 (vs. Buffalo 1st pitch @ 7:00 am) 94.5 XKR Scout Sleepover and The Pharm Post-Game Fireworks. Before the game, fans will be able to visit the Clean Air Fun Fair, taking place on St. Clair and Perry St. from 4:00-7:00 pm.
Post game fireworks will immediately follow the game. After the fireworks thousands of area scouts will turn the outfield grass into a campground, staying overnight on Toledo's own field of dreams in the first of three Scout Sleepovers.
