Waterloo Black Hawks News Release

Waterloo, Iowa-In preparation for an exhibit exploring 50 seasons of hockey in the Cedar Valley, the Grout Museum in Waterloo is looking for historic Black Hawks photos, film footage, game programs, jerseys, equipment, and other items which help to tell the team's story.

"We are very excited to celebrate a milestone season this winter, and pleased to share this special opportunity to look back on the team's history with our community," said Black Hawks President Doug Miller.

All materials loaned to the museum will be returned when the exhibit completes its run next spring.

"The Golden Era of the Black Hawks: From McElroy Auditorium to Young Arena" opens on Tuesday, September 27th. The Grout Museum plans to explore various aspects of the franchise's journey from a semi-professional "senior" team founded in 1962, to the modern Tier 1 junior organization which exists today. The exhibit will be included with regular admission into the museum, located at 503 South Street.

To offer a Black Hawks item to the museum, contact Robin Venter at (319) 234-6357 or via email at robin.venter@gmdistrict.org. The deadline for artifacts is September 23rd. For more information about the Grout Museum, visit groutmuseumdistrict.org.
