Halifax Mooseheads News Release

Paul MacMillan has attended every single Halifax Mooseheads game to sell 50/50 since the partnership between the team and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada was born, with the exception of when his mother passed away earlier this year. Fans will recognize his smiling face from his usual spot at table four on the concourse where he has sold the winning 50/50 ticket on numerous occasions.

Paul is currently running in the LLSC Visionaries of the Year campaign, trying to bring the National record to Atlantic Canada for raising the most amount of funds in a 10 week period wrapping up June 1st. He was inspired to get involved with LLSC when he saw a post by the Halifax Mooseheads a decade ago, visiting a young boy with leukemia. Here is his story:

How a single post on Facebook inspired me to make a difference

On November 21st, 2013 the Halifax Mooseheads posted this picture on Facebook:

I decided if two young Islanders could make a difference in this child's life (Ryan Adams), I could too. I joined Team in Training to run the Blue Nose Marathon (my first marathon) and raised $1,500 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC). I ran my first marathon, raised $2,245 for LLSC and became friends with Ryan and his family.

But I didn't stop there - I became Coach Paul and helped all the Purple Warriors achieve their own goals in running and fundraising. I also kept fundraising, raising over $40,000 for LLSC and running all the hills roads and trails around!

My Birthday Run became my favorite run and a TEAM event (September 25th, 2021 - 56 km with the last kilometer from the waterfront to the top of Citadel Hill with my TEAM!)

My latest challenge came after accepting a nomination to participate and fundraise for the - LLSC Visionary of the Year campaign. My goal is for our TEAM to bring the national fundraising record to the east coast.

Mooseheads fans can help support Paul by visiting his donation page here. On behalf of the organization, thank you for all you do Paul!
