HEDLEY to headline entertainment at ABA All-Star Weekend
January 13, 2007 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release
Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) announced today that the popular group HEDLEY will headline the entertainment at a concert during All Star Weekend on Saturday, January 27th in Halifax, Nova Scotia, the day before the 2007 ABA All Star Game. Tickets are now available.
A lot has happened since HEDLEY released their self-titled Universal Music Canada debut in the fall. HEDLEY have been nominated for two Junos (Rock Album and New Group of the Year), the album has been certified platinum, and the band has completed a sold out tour across Canada with Simple Plan. They've had three Top 20 radio singles and a #1 hit on the MuchMusic Top 30 Chart with "On My Own." Now HEDLEY are about to embark on another cross Canada tour this time with MXPX and Faber.
Vancouver-based band mates - vocalist Jacob Hoggard, bassist Tommy Mac (ex Flybanger, Everything After), guitarist Dave Rosin (ex Day Theory, Everything After), and drummer Chris Crippin (ex Bif Naked, Everything After) - have no idea what's in store when HEDLEY are on the road in support of the 11-song album, which is a good thing in this often dull 21st-century rock world.
HEDLEY'S sound, spontaneity and presence are one of a kind. After two blistering showcases during Canadian Music Week '05, HEDLEY signed a demo deal with Universal Music Canada and cut three songs. These songs landed the band a full-fledged contract.
Combined with the 3-point shooting contest, the slam dunk contest, and a host of other events on Saturday, followed by the All Star Game on Sunday, the ABA All Star Weekend should be a gala weekend. For more information, visit www.abalive.com - click on All Star Game.
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
