Heaves Drop Millrats With Late Defensive Stand

Vermont Frost Heaves News Release
Burlington, Vt.-The Vermont Frost Heaves overtook the Manchester Millrats in the fourth quarter to take a 109-99 win in a game that was suspended in the final minute after the third altercation of the afternoon broke out.
Vermont was led by Dokun Akingbade, who netted 22 points, seven of them in the crucial last minutes of the game. Akingbade also took down nine boards. Behind him was Dwuan Rice with 19 points and seven assists, followed closely by Terrance Green with 19 and Antonio Burks, who had 11.
The referees called the game in the final minute after Manchester's Ife Anosike took a swing at Vermont's Erik Nelson. Earlier the officials had ejected Dwayne Lee of the Frost Heaves and Ismael Caro of the Millrats.
Both teams entered the game road-weary; Manchester had returned from its trip to Singapore two days earlier, and Vermont arrived back from Halifax in the wee hours of Saturday morning-and struggled through frustrating stretches, but the Frost Heaves' defense limited Manchester to 12 points in the truncated fourth quarter.
Manchester was led by Anthony Anderson, who scored 36 points to go with six rebounds. With the loss the Millrats fell to 13-8.
The Frost Heaves (18-3) will return to Burlington tomorrow to take on the Montreal Royal. Game time is at 2:05 p.m.
