Heatwave top Reign in opener

November 19, 2004 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Sacramento Heatwave News Release

Fresno, CA. Leading the team with 35 points and 7 rebounds, Terri Miller and the ABA's Fresno Heatwave held on to beat the Portland Reign 121-106 in both teams' season opener in Portland. Under the leadership of newly appointed Head Coach Ron Brewer, the Heatwave brought some heat from California to the Portland.

According to Coach Brewer, "The team played well tonight. It was a total team effort. We played solid defense and that was the key; the win was well deserved."

The Heatwave led the majority of the game by as many as 26 points until the third period when the Reign fans got back into the game and sparked their team to pull within 2 points 96-94. That was as close as the game got. The Heatwave, with contributions from the entire team, pulled away and never looked back. Myron Allen contributed 28 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists along with Demetrius Porter scoring 22 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists.

The Heatwave and Reign are scheduled to play again Saturday, November 20th at 705PM.
