Harrisburg Heat News Release

HEAT RECORD AT A GLANCE:

Record: 10-30
Home: 6-14
Road: 4-16
Streak: Lost 1

LAST WEEK:

The Harrisburg Heat's only game of the weekend proved to be a forgettable one, as the Heat fell to the Kansas City Comets by the score of 29-17 on Saturday night in front of 3,782 fans at the Farm Show Arena. The loss dropped the Heat to 10-30 on the season as the club set a new mark for home losses in a season with 14. The 29 points allowed by the Heat is a single-game franchise record; the old mark had been 28, set in a 28-13 loss to Cleveland on January 10, 1999.

Harrisburg actually led 11-6 at one point in this contest, but the Comets went on a 23-2 tear to break the game wide open. Doug Petras played the entire 60 minutes in net for the Heat, making 15 saves. Chris Damico (13 saves) took the loss. Dino Delevski (two 2pgs, three assists, seven points) led all scorers. Nick Corneli paced the Heat with two 2pgs and an assist for five points.

"TAZ" MANIA CONTINUES

With a 3pg in Saturday's loss to Kansas City, Matt Tanzini wrapped up a big-time month of March. In 10 games during the month, Tanzini scored 11 goals (including the game-winner on March 23 against Baltimore) and a team-leading 29 points while blocking 16 shots for Harrisburg.

The native of Binghamton, NY, who played 11 games for Buffalo last season before blowing out his knee and ending his rookie campaign, tallied a career-high six points on 3/23 against the Blast, bagging a 3pg, 2pg, and an assist in a 22-13 Heat victory. The 25-year old has made himself a lethal restart threat; 5 of his March goals came off set pieces. Entering April, Tanzini is riding a nine-game scoring streak.

Tanzini, who trained with the US National Futsal Team from March 18-22, has now scored 14 goals and 44 points and blocked 34 shots in 37 games this season. If he kept up his March pace over a full 44-game season, the energetic backliner would finish with 48 goals, 128 points, and 70 blocks.

Zoran Karic also enjoyed a banner month. The 40-year old playmaker scored 5 goals and assisted on 19 others for 28 points in 11 games during March. He had scored in every Heat game he'd played until going scoreless in Saturday's loss to the Comets, and remains the club's assist leader with 22 despite playing only one-third of the team's games this year.

ODDS AND ENDS

- Over his last seven games, Matt Knowles has scored 6 goals and 14 points while blocking 10 shots. Knowles has scored 16 goals and 54 points on the season; 39 of those points (72%) have come at the Farm Show Arena.
