San Diego, CA - Ato Leone scored three goals and Chris Damico made 16 saves as the Harrisburg Heat defeated the San Diego Sockers 15-13 on Saturday night at San Diego Sports Arena. Despite the win, the club was eliminated from playoff contention thanks to the Baltimore Blast's 16-11 win in Kansas City. The Heat, now 13-21, will miss the postseason for the second consecutive campaign.

David Bascome's 3pg at 6:44 of the first opened the night's scoring and put the Heat up 3-0. After a 2pg from San Diego's Chris Fimbres made it 3-2 at 11:54, the Heat's Ato Leone (a 2pg at 14:05) and the Sockers' Matt Stewart (a 3pg at 14:23) traded scores to make it 5-5 at the end of the first.

The Heat the pieced together a 6-0 run to start the second. Ze Roberto (1:30), Leone (6:18), and Genoni Martinez (8:46) all found the net during the run as Harrisburg took an 11-5 lead. Mark Ughy broke the run for the Sockers with a double at 11:20, making it 11-7.

Carlos "Chile" Farias brought the Sockers within two with a 2pg just 35 seconds into the third to make it 11-9. The Sockers' brief spurt was ended, however, when Leone completed his hat trick with a head ball 2pg at 4:31 to make it 13-9. Bascome followed with his second deuce of the contest, a right-wing rip at 9:20, to make it 15-9 heading into the fourth.

Ughy nodded home his second goal of the evening at 6:57 of the fourth to make it 15-11. The Sockers found themselves within two at 11:52 when Leo Nava nudged a 2pg past Damico to make it 15-13. San Diego went to sixth attacker Robbie Aristodemo with just over a minute to play, but the Heat repelled the Sockers' late efforts to hold on for the 15-13 win.

Nick Vorberg (seven saves) takes the loss for San Diego, now 14-20 on the season.

NOTES: With two blocks, David Bascome tied Richard Chinapoo (337) as the Heat's all-time leader in that category...Ato Leone finished with three goals and six points to lead the Heat. Bascome (two 2pgs) added four points, and Genoni Martinez (2pg, assist) finished with three...Harrisburg swept the season series with the Sockers 5-0...The Heat will now return home for its final two games of the season. The Cleveland Force comes to town on Saturday, March 22 at 7:35 p.m., and the Kansas City Comets visit the Farm Show on Sunday, March 23 for a 6:05 p.m. kickoff.
