Harrisburg Heat News Release
Harrisburg, PA - An undermanned Harrisburg Heat squad fell by the score of 16-10 to the Milwaukee Wave in front of 2,708 fans at the Farm Show Arena on Friday night. The Heat loss, coupled with Baltimore's 19-11 win over Philadelphia, means that Harrisburg has now been officially eliminated from MISL playoff contention.s
The two clubs traded first-quarter 2pgs (Milwaukee's Sipho Sibiya scored at 6:26, and Harrisburg's Eric Kvello slid home a deuce at 6:47) before things opened up in the second quarter. Joe Reiniger rifled home a 3pg at 3:03 of the second to put Milwaukee up 5-2, and Greg Howes followed that with a 2pg at 5:21 to make it 7-2. Harrisburg, however, assumed the lead before halftime thanks to 2pgs from Danny Barber (8:03), Joey Murtagh (10:56), and Jason Webb (12:00). The Heat was up 9-8 at intermission.
Reiniger ended that quickly enough in the third, bagging a 2pg 28 seconds into the quarter to put Milwaukee ahead 9-8, and Sinisa Alebic scored a 2pg at 1:37 (the eventual game-winner) to make it 11-8. Martin Dugas' deflected 3pg at 7:38 increased the Wave edge to 14-8. Wendell Regis brought the Heat to within four with a 2pg at 10:19 to make it 14-10, but Milwaukee grabbed the momentum for good with a 2pg from Alebic with just three seconds left in the quarter to make it 16-10.
The Wave spent most of the scoreless fourth quarter exercising precise ball control, taking the 16-10 win.
