Harrisburg Heat News Release

Dallas, TX - Marco Coria was a factor in four of the Harrisburg Heat's five goals, but Coria's heroics were not enough as the Heat fell by the score of 16-10 to the Dallas Sidekicks in front of 6,061 fans at Reunion Arena on Saturday night. With the loss, Harrisburg falls to 1-2 on the year, while Dallas improves to 2-1 with the win. Raul Salas (9 saves) takes the loss in his first start for the Heat. Sagu (14 saves, 2-1) gets the win in net for the Sidekicks.

David Bascome's fifth goal of the year, a deuce at the 5:00 mark, got Harrisburg on the board first, but Dallas regained the momentum beginning at 8:23 when Patrick Shamu bagged a 2pg. Twenty seconds later, Shamu found Antonio Sutton on the right wing for a 2pg and it was 4-2, Dallas at the end of the first quarter.

Shamu struck again at 9:55 of the second when he outraced Salas and Martin Hernandez to a loose ball in the neutral zone and lofted a 3pg into an empty net to account for the only scoring of the second quarter, and Dallas led 7-2 at halftime.

The Heat began to battle back at 1:38 of the third: with Dallas player/coach Tatu off for a tripping penalty, Marco Coria drilled a two-point power play goal to cut Harrisburg's deficit to 7-4. At 6:03, Coria set up Genoni Martinez's 2pg from the left wing, and it was 7-6. Dallas' Sutton scored a critical short-handed goal at 13:16 to bump the Dallas lead to 9-6, but on the same power play, the Heat's Marco Lopez scored his first points of the year when he bagged a 2pg at 13:50, and the Heat had pulled to within 9-8 at the end of three quarters.

Nick Stavrou's 3pg at 4:12 of the fourth gave Dallas a 12-8 lead, but the resilient Heat struck back just over a minute later at 5:28, when Coria dribbled through traffic and found David Barbosa on the right wing for a 2pg to make it 12-10. Shamu finished his big night with a 2pg at 10:48 to make it 14-10, Dallas, and Sutton completed his own hat trick at 14:52 against Heat sixth attacker Mike Henning to seal the 16-10 victory.
