Worcester Bravehearts News Release
Worcester, MA - The Worcester Bravehearts fell 4-1 to the Vermont Lake Monsters Friday night at Fitton Field.
Vermont moves to 32-12 with the win while the Bravehearts fall to 17-26.
The Lake Monsters struck first in the top of the third inning, thanks to an RBI double by Jimmy Evans (Tufts) that brought in Tyler Favretto (Crowder).
Vermont tacked on another run in the fourth when Favretto doubled home Harrison Didawick (Virginia).
Two more runs scored for Vermont in the fifth on a two-run home run by Colby Brouillette (Clarkson), also scoring Evans. That would be all the scoring the Lake Monsters would need.
The Bravehearts got on the board in the bottom of the seventh. Andrew Chronister (Shippensberg) was forced home when Kosta Drosidis (Anna Maria) was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Worcester was unable to score again, however.
Vermont starter Tim Noone (Babson) earned the win, tossing six scoreless innings on four hits and two walks while striking out five. Bravehearts starting pitcher Sean Scanlon (Holy Cross) took the loss, giving up four runs (three earned) across 4.2 innings, allowing four hits and two walks while striking out two. Lake Monsters reliever Wyatt Cameron (New England College) threw two scoreless innings to record the save.
The Bravehearts go on the road Saturday against the Westfield Starfires at Bullens Field. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00, with the game airing live on NESN.
