Worcester Bravehearts News Release

Worcester, MA - The Worcester Bravehearts dropped Sunday afternoon's contest 7-4 against the Vermont Lake Monsters at Fitton Field.

Trailing 4-3 heading into the top of the ninth, Vermont scored four runs in the inning to take a 7-4 lead it would not relinquish.

The Bravehearts' record is 11-4 with the loss while Vermont moves to 11-5.

Worcester didn't take long to get the scoring started. A first-inning single by Daniel Bucciero (Fordham) brought home AJ Guindon (Wheaton) to give the Bravehearts a 1-0 lead.

The score remained 1-0 until the bottom of the sixth. After loading the bases on two hit batsmen and an infield single, Guindon came through with a two-run single that scored both Kobe Stenson (Siena) and Christian Limón (Amherst). Micah Dean (Kansas State) also scored in the inning on a Bucciero sacrifice fly.

All seven runs for Vermont came in the final three innings, starting with a three-run seventh. Jordan Kang (Harvard) hit a triple to score both Kyle Lodise (Augusta) and Kyle McCausland (Middlebury). Kang later scored on a Tommy Martin (Yale) groundout.

After Vermont loaded the bases in the ninth inning, a single by Antonio Perrotta (Virginia) scored Kang to tie the game. Vermont took the lead when Tyler Favretto (Crowder) singled in Trevor Cohen (Rutgers). Vermont added another run when Lodise drove in Perrotta on a groundout. That was followed by a bases-loaded walk to Ryan Eaton (Manhattan) that forced in Logan Keller (Navy).

Callan Fang (Harvard) got the win for the Lake Monsters, tossing a scoreless eighth inning, allowing two hits and striking out one. The losing pitcher was the Bravehearts' Tommy Turner (UConn), who allowed four runs (three earned) on two hits in 0.2 innings, walking one. Wyatt Cameron (New England College) earned the save for the Lake Monsters, allowing no runs in the ninth inning while striking out two.

The Bravehearts are back in action tomorrow evening against the Nashua Silver Knights, with first pitch scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
