Worcester Bravehearts News Release

Worcester, MA - The Worcester Bravehearts dropped Tuesday evening's contest 6-4 against the New Britain Bees at Fitton Field.

The loss snaps the Bravehearts' four game winning streak and drops Worcester to 25-32. New Britain moves to 33-25 on the season.

The Bees didn't trail throughout the game. A wild pitch on a third strike allowed Zach Donahue (Eastern Connecticut State) to score, giving New Britain a 1-0 lead.

The Bravehearts tied the game 1-1 when Cam Seymour (Southern Maine) hit his 12th home run of the season in the bottom of the second.

New Britain retook the lead in the top of the fifth when Joel Lara (Franklin Pierce) scored on a groundout.

The Bees added to the lead with a four-run sixth inning. After an RBI single by Matthew DeRosa (Quinnipiac) scored Tyler Pettorini (Ohio State), a bases-clearing triple by Donohue would bring in CJ Brito-Trinidad (Bowdoin), DeRosa, and Lara.

A three-run sixth got Worcester back into the ballgame. An infield single by Gavin Noriega (Marist) scored Matt Livingston (Siena), after which Noriega and Lewis Barnum (Bryant) would come home on a two-run double by Jake Marquez (Maine).

The win went to New Britain reliever Martin Zhang (Columbia), who gave up three earned runs in 3.2 innings on four hits and three walks, striking out two. Bravehearts starter Coleman Picard (Bryant) took the loss for Worcester, giving up two earned runs in five innings of work on three hits and four walks, striking out five. New Britain's Benny Wilson (George Washington) picked up the save, tossing a scoreless ninth on two hits and a strikeout.

The Bravehearts are back on the road Wednesday evening for a meeting with the Brockton Rox. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00.
