Worcester Bravehearts News Release
Nashua, NH - The Worcester Bravehearts dropped Monday afternoon's road matchup against the Nashua Silver Knights 4-2 at Holman Stadium.
Nashua moves to 17-17 on the season with the win, their seventh straight. The Bravehearts fall to 15-19 with the loss.
Nashua got the scoring started with a big first inning. An RBI double by Kyle Wolff (Boston College) scored Jack McDermott (Amherst). Will MacLean (UMass) followed that up with an RBI single that scored Wolff. Ray Velazquez (Vanderbilt) came in on a sacrifice fly by Chris Katz (Wake Forest), and MacLean would score on a double by Richie Paltridge (Siena). That would be all the scoring the Silver Knights would need.
The Bravehearts chipped away at the deficit in the top of the second, when a David Pedanou (Dayton) groundout scored Gavin Noriega (Marist). In the fourth, Pedanou would drive in another run when he was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, bringing in Jake Marquez (Maine). Worcester was unable to score again, however.
The win went to Nashua starting pitcher Shea Ryan (Assumption). He tossed 4.1 innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on four hits and a walk while striking out two. Jack Sefrino (Salem State) took the loss for Worcester, giving up four runs (two earned) in six innings on five hits, striking out three. George Welch (Southern New Hampshire) pitched a scoreless seventh to record the save.
After an off-day Tuesday, the Bravehearts will be back on the road Wednesday evening against the Pittsfield Suns at Wahconah Park. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30.
