Alabama Vipers News Release
HUNTSVILLE - The defending ArenaCup champion Tennessee Valley Vipers are headed back to the af2 playoffs and they'll be hosting a home game Aug. 1 at the Von Braun Center.
Playoff tickets are now on sale to the public through Ticketmaster, the VBC box office and the Vipers front office at 256-428-HISS or at www.vipersaf2.com. A win in the first round would be followed by another home game on Aug. 8.
The Vipers (11-4) will look to clinch the American Conference South Division title this Saturday night against South Georgia (10-5) at the VBC. A win by Tennessee Valley secures a No. 2 playoff seed but a loss could lead to a number of scenarios - especially if Kentucky (10-5) is victorious.
A Tennessee Valley loss and a Kentucky win would lead to a three-way tie. The tiebreaker would be common opponents, with the Vipers winning at 4-0 against Florida and Quad City, with South Georgia at 4-1 and Kentucky at 3-1.
The tiebreaker then goes to point differential and Tennessee Valley is plus-21 over South Georgia, mandating the Wildcats win by 22 on Saturday night.
If South Georgia wins by 21 points, the tiebreaker reverts back to common opponents with the Vipers winning again.
Saturday night's game is also "Community Appreciation Night" with free and discounted tickets distributed compliments of Landers McLarty Dodge Chrysler Jeep-Subaru, Specialty Pharmacy in Cullman, Woody Anderson Ford, CVS Pharmacy, Calhoun Community College and the Alabama National Guard
