YOUNGSTOWN, OH - Head Coach John Wroblewski will be moving on from the Youngstown Phantoms organization to become a head coach with the National Team Development Program (NTDP). Wroblewski will become the bench boss for the U.S. National Under-18 Team, replacing Don Granato.

Wroblewski's transition is a natural progression, considering his history with the NTDP. He played junior hockey with USA NTDP from 1997 to 1999, and the NTDP helped launch his coaching career, where he earned his first assistant coach position.

"Despite only being here for one year, Youngstown felt like home. Our fans and the community are so supportive, and there is always a sense of family. I loved my players and hockey staff. They all have a bright future in this game. The Phantoms next coach will be in great hands with the culture and work ethic that GM Jason Koehler has ingrained. Lastly, I'd like to thank the ownership group for the opportunity to coach in Youngstown," said Wroblewski.

Under Wroblewski's season with the Phantoms the team ended 31-20-9, and Cameron Morrison was named USHL Rookie of the Year after leading all rookies in scoring with 66 points (34G-32A) in 60 games.

"We are happy that John has the opportunity to represent the United States on the international coaching level. Our mission as an organization is to give our staff the experience and tools needed to achieve goals they have set for themselves. We appreciated John's year with the Phantoms and wish him nothing but continued success in the future," said Co-Owner Troy Loney.

"We truly enjoyed working with and getting to know John this past year. His energy and passion on and off the ice were impressive, and he showed himself to be a tremendous coach. We hate to see him go, but understand that this is a great opportunity for John and his wife Ashley," said General Manager Jason Koehler.

The Phantoms will begin a search for a new head coach immediately.
