February 27, 2004 - NBA G League (G League)
Asheville Altitude News Release
The Asheville Altitude, in conjunction with the Haywood County Chamber of Commerce, invites Haywood County basketball fans to come out and enjoy "Support Our Soldiers (SOS) and Haywood County Night with the Altitude", Saturday, March 13.
The National Basketball Development League game features the Altitude hosting the Columbus Riverdragons at the Asheville Civic Center. Tip-off is set for 7:15 p.m.
Fans can support the "Support our Soldiers" celebration by purchasing best available upper or lower bowl "SOS" seats, excluding floor seats, for $9. Purchase of a "SOS" ticket provides a $3 donation from each ticket sold to the "Family Support Group" for the North Carolina National Guard's 161st Medical Battalion; and the 210th and 211th Military Police Units. These special "SOS" tickets must be purchased in advance by calling Seth Denton in the Altitude front office at 782-1003.
Nationally televised on NBA TV (taped delayed), the "SOS and Haywood County Night with the Altitude" game offers Haywood County residents the opportunity to purchase a upper or lower bowl seat for $8. By presenting a state issued I.D. at the Civic Center Box Office, Haywood County residents can enjoy a showcase of local community businesses displaying goods and/or services on the concourse level throughout the game. The first 250 fans to enter the arena receive a free pair of Thunderstix, compliments of Stat Nursing Services, Inc.
The soldiers of the North Carolina National Guard's 210th and 211th Military Police Unit and the 161st Medical Support Battalion will receive special recognition for their diligence and hard work in the United States Armed Forces. In addition, Federal, State, County and Local dignitaries will issue proclamations and salute our "Most Valued Citizens" during a special half-time presentation.
Local businesses are encouraged to participate in the night's festivities by donating goods/or services to the honorees and their families.
"We're delighted to have our neighbors from the immediate west join us for Haywood County Night," said Altitude Team President Alfred White, "especially on a night when we honor the men and women who protect our way of life."
Local business and organizations of Haywood County that would like to donate goods and/or services to the families of the soldiers are encouraged to call Altitude coordinator of sales and marketing Roy Brown at 782-1007.
