ASHEVILLE, N.C., April 7, 2005 - The Asheville Altitude presents the inaugural Dodgeball World Cup Tournament prior to the regular season finale against the Huntsville Flight, Saturday, April 9, beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the Asheville Civic Center.

"The Dodgeball World Cup Tournament will make for an exciting pregame event at the Civic Center," said Asheville team president Rudy Bourg. "The season finale will be packed with an exciting assortment of sports entertainment for the entire family to enjoy."

The Dodgeball World Cup Tournament, sanctioned by the International Dodgeball Federation's North Carolina chapter, will feature eight dodgeball teams competing against one another in a single elimination tournament. Team entry is $200 with a maximum of eight players. Teams scheduled to compete include: Asheville Altitude (FOS), Alabama Blitz, Asheville Wingers, Biltmore Lakers, Black Mountain Draft Dodgers, and Ft. Lauderdale.

The National Basketball Development League game features a rematch of last season's championship contest as the Altitude host the Flight beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Fans can purchase tickets for both the Dodgeball World Cup Tournament and the Altitude game by calling the 828-782-1004. Tickets are still available in the upper and lower bowl seating sections and discounts are available for groups of 15 or more and children under 3.
