Haymakers Hire Trevor Whiting as Head Coach

Lincoln, NE - The Lincoln Haymakers would like to announce Trever Whiting as the new Head Coach for the 2014 season. Coach Whiting joins the Haymakers after previously serving as the Special Teams Coordinator and Offensive Assistant for the Iowa Barnstormers of the Arena Football League for the past three seasons. Whiting will look to bring top AFL talent to Lincoln with the goal of building a CPIFL championship caliber team.

When asked to comment on the opportunity, Whiting expressed great excitement coaching at home: "I'd like to thank the ownership of the Lincoln Haymakers including Ho Chunk, INC, Brad Lindgren and Justin Hayes for affording me this opportunity to lead their organization. [The Haymakers] are a part of a community that lives and breathes football. We must cultivate this desire by creating a successful team. Winning is extremely important but it must be accomplished with integrity, poise and class. "

Coach Whiting will rely on experience he has gathered over the past decade to build a winning tradition with the Haymakers. Whiting traces his coaching roots to the offensive side of the ball with college experience as Offensive Coordinator for Graceland University, Central Methodist University, Campbellsville University and Kansas Wesleyan. Whiting has been noted for his ability to motivate individual athletes and his attention to detail in game preparation. Whiting's connections in the Arena Football League will be instrumental in building a top tier roster as well as launching players up to the next level.

Director of Football Operations Justin Hayes commented on the hire: "Coach Whiting brings a great deal of knowledge, discipline, and dedication to the Haymakers. We feel he is an excellent addition to our staff with his integrity and ability to transform young men into professionals. He is a family man who is part of the Lincoln community and accepts nothing but high character and high passion from his players."

From a personal level, Trever played college football for Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas before enrolling at Nebraska Wesleyan where he received his Bachelor's degree in Health and Human Performance. He and his wife live in Lincoln where they are raising their son. Coach Whiting wanted to be sure football fans in Lincoln understood his expectations for building the organization. "Our players will learn that the challenge of being among the best is a continual pursuit of excellence. I look forward to the challenges and to representing the Lincoln Haymakers organization and the city of Lincoln in our pursuit of the 2014 CPIFL Championship!"
