Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
Four consecutive Black Hawks goals, after an initial Sioux City score, pushed Waterloo past the Musketeers 4-3 on Friday.
Trailing 1-0 in the first period, Josh Turnbull captured a puck at the Sioux City line, skated around a defenseman, and flipped it in. Matt Arhontas set up a Kyle Reeds goal three-and-a-half minutes later. Reeds only needed 17 seconds to find the net a second time, deflecting in a Brett Barta shot. Turnbull scored his second goal early in the second period, banking the puck in off a skate. Matt DiGirolamo made several fine saves in the second period and into the third, but Sioux City rallied back to within a goal before the final horn sounded.
The victory moves Waterloo into a tie with the Musketeers atop the overall USHL standings. The Black Hawks also gained a two-point advantage on the Cedar Rapids Rough Riders, Saturday night's opponent for a game in Cedar Rapids. The Black Hawks' next home game is Friday, February 2nd against the Ohio Junior Blue Jackets.
