Hawks Swept at Home by Salem-Keizer

The Boise Hawks (3-5) could not get the bats going in the final game of the series against the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes (6-2) and fell by a final score of 7-1 at home on Friday night.

Boise got a run in the first thanks to Danny Edgeworth. After Cade Harris doubled with two outs, Edgeworth picked up his league leading 9th RBI of the year on a single to left field.

With the Hawks leading 1-0, Salem-Keizer responded in the third by getting back-to-back walks against Boise starter Javier Medina. Medina then gave up a two run double to Ricardo Genoves,s scoring both runs, giving Salem-Keizer a 2-1 lead.

In the fourth, Robinson Medrano hit a solo home run to left field and the Volcanoes took a 3-1 lead. Medina would go five innings allowing three runs on three walks and three strikeouts.

Salem-Keizer would get their big inning in the 8th. After Hunter Williams threw two innings of shutout baseball for the Hawks, Jeffry Valdez came in. The Volcanoes would put up four runs and cap it off by a Christopher Burks single that scored two making it 7-1 Salem-Keizer.

Orleny Quiroz worked the 8th and 9th for the Volcanoes to get Salem-Keizer their 6th win and keep full control of first place in the Northwest League South Division.

Terrin Vavra had a 2-4 night in his debut in the leadoff spot for Boise and Cade Harris also had a 2-4 game with a run scored. Harris is the league leader with 10 runs scored this year.
