Waterloo Black Hawks News Release

Waterloo, Iowa-Less than a week after five members of the Waterloo Black Hawks won gold medals while representing the United States at the World Junior A Challenge, the entire Black Hawks team will be decked out in red, white, and blue to salute our nation's veterans and military personnel.

Friday and Saturday evening, Waterloo players will wear the special sweaters, presented by Screaming Eagle American Bar & Grill on East 4th Street in Waterloo. Fans can get a sneak peak at the jerseys Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 PM, when the team is on hand for the next collectable pint glass night. While supplies last, those who attend will receive a special Black Hawks pint glass with a beverage purchase.

"It has become a tradition for us to recognize our men and women in uniform each November," said Black Hawks head coach P.K. O'Handley. "We are proud to have the opportunity to show our support for those who have helped preserve freedoms that are so dear to us and which should never be taken for granted."

The jerseys feature a swirling, patriotic pattern, with stars in red, white, and blue. Navy blue numbers on the back and sleeves are outlined in red. Player names are also stitched in navy. Following Waterloo's game on Saturday night, the sweaters will be auctioned, with proceeds benefitting local military-related causes. The Hawks' 2011 Veteran's Day uniforms raised over $10,000 for the Sullivan-Hartogh-Davis Post 730 Honor Flight.

Friday, the Black Hawks host the Des Moines Buccaneers at 7:05; Saturday's matchup against the Sioux City Musketeers will have the same start time. Good seats for both contests are still available from the Black Hawks Box Office by calling (319) 291-7680, or online from waterlooblackhawks.com.
