Hawks Blanked by Dragons, Lose Second Straight

SOUTH BEND - The South Bend Silver Hawks recorded just three hits and dropped their second straight
game against Dayton, falling 6-0 in front of 810 fans at Coveleski Stadium. With the loss the Hawks fall
below .500 at 4-5 and will try for a split in the four-game series on Sunday.
Right-hander Jesse Darrah (1-1) was hit with the loss, allowing five earned runs on seven hits over four
innings. Darrah walked two and struck out two. Stalin Gerson got the win for the Dragons, hurling six
innings of scoreless, two-hit baseball. Gerson struck out five and walked two.
The Dragons got the scoring started in the second inning when Kyle Waldrop hit an RBI double to right
field. Juan Silva tripled in the third inning to make it a 2-0 game. In the fourth inning, the Dragons struck
for three more runs - two of which coming on a two-run home run from Juan Perez. The Dragons struck
for three runs on three hits in the fourth inning.
Matt Helm doubled in the ninth inning to extend his hitting streak to nine games. The infielder now has
four doubles on the season.
Silva and Ryan Wright recorded three-hit performances for the Dragons, while Yovan Gonzalez record two
hits and two walks out of the nine hole. Waldrop finished 2-for-4 out of the seven slot.
Taylor Siemens worked three innings for the Hawks and allowed one earned run on five hits over three
innings. Seth Simmons tossed two scoreless innings and struck out two.
The Hawks are now 3-3 on their current seven-game homestand.
The Silver Hawks and Dragons conclude their four-game series tomorrow at Coveleski Stadium with a
2:05 p.m. EST start. Right-hander J.R. Bradley will make the start for the Hawks and will be opposed by
