Hawks and Rats Set to Begin "River Rivalry"

Johnstown RiverHawks News Release

JOHNSTOWN, PA - When the Johnstown Riverhawks host the Pittsburgh Riverrats this Saturday night at the Cambria War Memorial Arena, it will be the first of many meetings between these two franchises. But you wouldn't think it was the first time with all the hype leading up to the game. The close proximity makes this a natural rivalry game, but there is much more than just geographic location involved. Some of Pittsburgh's players and even staff are former Riverhawks, looking to prove they made the right choice in moving on. Receiver Marko Thomas and lineman Tony Morgan are former Riverhawks, as well as Riverrats defensive coordinator Josh Lipkin, who worked in the front office for the Riverhawks last year.

Riverhawks receiver and General Manager Quenteen Robinson played with some of those Riverrats players and still talks with some of them. "Some of their guys have been sending me messages all week, talking trash that they are bringing their "A" game. But all talk aside, it only matters what happens Saturday night. I am excited about settling this on the field." Riverhawks head Coach Steven G. Folmar is familiar with the rivalry concept as well, "Anytime you have guys changing teams you are going to have some bad blood. We both have talented teams then you throw in the fact that some of these guys have histories with each other and you now have an explosive situation. There will be no lack of emotion come Saturday night."

Kickoff is scheduled for 7pm, and this game will also feature Quenteen Robinson's quest for 100 touchdowns playing professional football in Johnstown. In just his 5th year, he currently rests at 97 going into Saturday Night's match-up.
