Everett Hawks News Release

EVERETT - The League office assigned Japanese receiver Kohei Satomi to the Everett Hawks this past week, making him the first international player to join the Everett roster this season. Satomi, who played in the af2 in 2003 with the Hawaiian Islanders, will provide added experience and depth to the roster. Kohei is also bound to draw particular interest due to the significant Japanese-American population within the Greater Seattle Metro area.

Kohei attended Ritsumeikan University in Japan where he won a national championship in 1998. After college he took his skills to NFL Europe. Playing for Amsterdam in 2000 and Scotland in 2001, Satomi recorded 14 tackles and 10 special team tackles while playing defensive back. In 2002 Satomi moved state side to play with the Hawaiian Islanders. After only playing five games in 2002, Kohei saw action in 11 contests in 2003, recording 48 tackles and two INTs along with earning Defensive Player of the Week honors in week 11 against Tulsa. For the last two seasons Satomi has returned to Europe playing for both Amsterdam and Cologne.
