Hawgs release nine from roster
March 9, 2005 - National Indoor Football League (NIFL)
Daytona Beach Hawgs News Release
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- The first cut was the deepest for the Daytona Beach Hawgs Wednesday. Head Coach/General Manager Ervin Bryson announced that nine players have been released from the National Indoor Football League team's preseason roster.
"It's a part of the job I don't like, but it is a business,'' Bryson said. "In some cases, the effort was there but the talent wasn't. Some guys just didn't live up to the potential they showed at the tryouts. Some just didn't fit into the system. I wish these guys nothing but the best."
Those cut: (local connections in parenthesis)
LB Sam Smalls
LB Jamaal Argrow
RB Johnny Hart (Seabreeze, Bethune-Cookman)
LB Lydell Jackson (Bethune-Cookman)
OL George Boyette
DB Craig May
OL Kevin Thorne
DB Michael Taylor
DB Deon Bass
Wednesday's practice, originally planned to be a light walk-through, was cancelled due to inclement weather. Practice resumes Thursday at Derbyshire Field.
