Daytona Beach Hawgs training camp report
March 9, 2005 - National Indoor Football League (NIFL)
Daytona Beach Hawgs News Release
BOTTOM LINE: With Head Coach/General Manager Ervin Bryson taking part in a National Indoor Football League conference call, defensive coordinator Monteray Evans handled the majority of coaching duties Tuesday. But instead of letting the defense dominate, Evans opened things up for the offense to regain some momentum after a slow day Monday.
HIGHLIGHT ON OFFENSE: WR Tarion Hubbard ran crisp routes.
HIGHLIGHT ON DEFENSE: LB Levar Simms stepped and joined the battle for a starting job
HIGHLIGHT ON SPECIAL TEAMS: K Scott Cornelius is placing the ball four or five yards into the end zone on his kickoff attempts. This can be important -- unlike the Arena league, the NIFL doesn't have nets.
THE QB SITUATION: A much better day for all three QBs -- Neal Sharma threw back-to-back TDs and Ty Lohman and Isaac Hall "did great jobs making their reads," Evans said.
THE LOCALS: DB Jarraud Bell (Mainland, Bethune-Cookman) made two picks.
