
Havoc Pick Up One Point In Week Two

COLUMBUS, GA - Undaunted by a four-goal deficit, the Columbus Cottonmouths battled back to claim a 6-5 victory over the Huntsville Havoc.
Columbus never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Cottonmouths trailed 4-0 after a goal by Huntsville's Brandon Perry at 13:50 in the first period. Columbus tied things up at 5-5 on a goal by Jordan Draper at 17:34 in the third period. The Cottonmouths got the game winner on the power play at 19:16 in the third period on a goal by Draper.
Columbus got the win thanks to a great game by Tory Allan, who had two goals and two assists. Allan scored the first of his two goals at 2:27 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Huntsville. Ian McNulty assisted on the tally. Allan's next tally made the score 4-4 with 4:47 left in the second period. A cross checking penalty on Scott Harff had put the Cottonmouths on the power play. Levi Lind picked up the assist.
Columbus put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Havoc to score on any of their seven power plays. The Cottonmouths surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Columbus has scored at the pace of 3.3 goals per game during the current campaign. The 32 shots that the Cottonmouths put on net surpassed Columbus' average of 27.3 shots per game this season.
Columbus additionally got points from Lind, who also had two goals and one assist. In addition, Columbus received assists from Tom Maldonado, who had two and Matt Gingera and Dan Bremner, who each chipped in one.
Huntsville struggled on the penalty kill, allowing the Cottonmouths to score three power play goals on five chances. With 35 shots on target during the contest, the Havoc exceeded the 31.7 shots they average per game this year.
Huntsville also got points from Justin Fox, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Mike Gurtler, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Huntsville also got a goal from Josh Harris as well. Other players who recorded assists for Huntsville were Sam Cannata, Corey Bellamy, and Matt Singleton, who contributed one a piece.
Columbus' Travis Bosch stopped 30 shots out of the 35 that he faced. The Cottonmouths incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Jesse Kallechy made 26 saves for Huntsville on 32 shots. The Havoc incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
Saturday, November 2 - Huntsville 3, Mississippi Surge 4 - SO
BILOXI, MS - Kyle Fletcher scored the clinching goal in a shootout, and Mississippi Surge picked up the extra point in a 4-3 (3-1 SO) win over the Huntsville Havoc.
The shootout featured eight attempts between both teams. Huntsville's shootout goal was scored by Nick Lazorko. In addition to the clincher, Mississippi Surge got shootout goals from Kyle Kudroch and Fletcher.
Mississippi Surge saw a two-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. Mississippi Surge made the score 3-1 on a power play goal by Fletcher at 5:34 in the third period. The Havoc evened things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Lazorko at 18:29 in the third period.
Mississippi Surge excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Huntsville was unable to stop Mississippi Surge from sending pucks towards the net, and Mississippi Surge eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.
Mississippi Surge was helped by Kudroch, who registered two goals. Kudroch scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 10:43 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Mississippi Surge. Mississippi Surge had taken the advantage when the Havoc's Lazorko got sent off for too many men. Jarkko Leppanen provided the assist. Kudroch's next tally on the power play made the score 2-0 Mississippi Surge with 19:20 left in the second period. Mitch Bruijsten assisted on the tally. In addition, Mississippi Surge received assists from Jordan Peddle, Matt Ridley, and Chapen LeBlond, who contributed one a piece.
With 42 shots on target during the contest, Huntsville exceeded the 34.3 shots it averages per game this year.
The Havoc were led by Dominic Osman, who tallied two goals. Osman scored the first of his two goals at 29 seconds into the third period to make the score 2-1 Mississippi Surge. Osman's next tally made the score 3-2 Mississippi Surge with 8:52 left in the third period. Justin Fox picked up the assist. More assists for Huntsville came via Derek Foam, Rob Florentino, and Justin Cseter, who each chipped in one.
Mathieu Dugas rejected 39 shots on goal for Mississippi Surge. Mississippi Surge incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Huntsville's Kevin Genoe stopped 28 shots out of the 31 that he faced. The Havoc incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
