Hartford Colonials News Release
HARTFORD, CT - The Hartford Colonials have announced their 52-man roster for the 2010 United Football League season.
UFL teams were allowed to practice with up to 70 players during training camp, but are required to reduce the roster to 52. Teams can dress 50 players for regular season games.
"We are pleased with our roster," said Colonials Head Coach and General Manager Chris Palmer. "Our offensive line average weight is 319 pounds. More than half of our squad has NFL experience, so I'm pleased with that. We look forward to the season starting next Saturday."
The Colonials start their eight-game schedule Sept. 18 against Sacramento at Rentschler Field in East Hartford. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
The Colonials have a strong backfield, led by veteran quarterback Josh McCown, who played eight seasons in the NFL. Ryan Perrilloux, the No. 2 QB, looked impressive in training camp working alongside McCown.
The Colonials running back position is deep with Andre Dixon and Lorenzo Booker. Dixon is a familiar name to fans in Connecticut after playing at the UConn. Booker (Florida State) has spent time with the Miami Dolphins and Philadelphia Eagles.
On the defensive side, defensive back Ryan Palmer (Texas) looks to lead the pass coverage, while Jonas Seawright (North Carolina) will anchor the defensive line.
The Colonials feature several players with state ties. The roster includes fullback Asaph Schwapp, a Hartford native (Notre Dame), and safety Ryan Glasper of Southington (Boston College). In addition to Dixon, the team also includes three of his former UConn teammates: linebacker Danny Lansanah, center Keith Gray and defensive end Julius Williams.
Single-game tickets start at $15 and may be purchased through Ticketmaster, the Bushnell box office or by calling 860-913-2300.
