Hartford Colonials News Release

EAST HARTFORD, CT - June 10, 2011 - The Hartford Colonials signed tight end Jeff Cottam to a contract for the 2011 United Football League season. Terms were not disclosed.

Cottam spent the 2010 preseason with the Cincinnati Bengals after signing as a free agent following the NFL draft. His brother is Kansas City Chiefs tight end Brad Cottam.

Jeff Cottam (6-8, 360), like his brother, played in college at Tennessee. Used mainly as a blocker, Jeff had seven receptions and one touchdown in four seasons with the Vols.

"He's a big tight end blocking guy," said David Turner, Colonials Director of Player Personnel. "It's almost like adding another guy to the offense line for running plays. For a big guy, he has soft hands."

Cottam joins Charles Davis and Ronnie Ghent as Colonials tight ends under contract for 2011.

In another roster move, the Colonials released linebacker Tank Daniels. The special teams captain last year, Daniels appeared in four games and had seven total tackles. He was placed on Injured Reserve list Oct. 20.

The Colonials open the 2011 regular season Aug. 13 against the Virginia Destroyers at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex. For more team information, please visit www.hartfordcolonials.com.
