Harrisburg ties game in third, buried by 12-2 Philly run

Harrisburg, PA – Paolo Ceccarelli made a season-high 21 saves in goal for the Harrisburg Heat, but a second-half surge carried the Philadelphia KiXX over the Heat by the score of 20-10 in front of 5,618 fans at the Farm Show Arena on Saturday night. Harrisburg falls to 10-33 on the season with loss.

Philly used 2pgs from Chris Handsor (5:13 of the first) and Joe Scigliano (4:35 of the second) to take a 4-0 lead before Harrisburg's Danny Barber bagged a restart goal at 5:01 to make it 4-2. The KiXX took an 8-2 lead into halftime, thanks to deuces from Handsor (7:05) and Omid Namazi (13:53).

Harrisburg showed signs of life in the third, tying the game with three straight 2pgs, from Jason Webb (:47), Chris Morman (4:36), and Matt Knowles (8:20). Philadelphia responded in kind, however, using a 6-0 run to take firm control of this contest. Matt Brooks (11:34 of the third), Pat Morris (11:47), Namazi (6:03 of the fourth), and Gary DePalma (9:29) scored during the spurt.

Wendell Regis' double at 12:05 of the fourth served to momentarily halt the KiXX run, but Chris Handsor (11:01) and Joel Shanker (13:41) put the finishing touches on Philadelphia's 20-10 victory.

Peter Pappas (15 saves) got the win in net for the KiXX. Handsor led all scores with three 2pgs for six points.

NOTES: Philadelphia wins the season series between the clubs, 6-3...Harrisburg concludes its 2001-02 season by hosting the Cleveland Crunch tomorrow, Sunday April 14. Kickoff at the Farm Show is 6:05 p.m.
